Fins braid vs Berkley Fireline

Going down to the tackle store this week ends so i would like to find out what some of you bream anglers think about both the fins braid and berkley fireline.
Which would you recommend?
Pros and Cons of both of the line?
What you would rate it?

Fins is the worst braid ever made, fireline is second depending on which type you get.

Fins braid in my opinion is terrible, i only use Fireline Exceed and that's the only braid i would use. I have been using it for a while now and it hasn't let me down, its doesn't cost a lot either and there is quite a fair amount when you get it. This is just my opinion, i really love it!

Fins seems to drive a lot of people crazy one way or the other.

Fireline Original is tough, easy to use but will become a little fluffy with age. It takes about 50 casts for it to start to soften - that's because its a fused line, not an open weave.

Fireline Exceed is thinner and smoother but for your first time get the 4.4lb. Its plenty thin enough and behaves well. Again needs to be broken in a little.

I'd go the Exceed in Crystal or Orange.

i have heard so many bad reports about fins that i have a new spool here i was give and ive had for 12 months or more and refuse to put it on a spool lol, fireline in my opinion is pretty good stuff, i use it in 3lb and 4lb 6lb and love it to bits got a few spare spools of it to respool the reels up when it gets bad, it does get better with a bit of use but also takes alot of use to fluff it up, i use the flame green and it holds out better than crystal in dirty water. i do also have some light and heavy in fireline exeed i won recently but again probily wont use it for a while as i got the spares to use in the frieline 1st

cant say ive tried all of the expensive braids to compair with but with the ones i have tried i dont like them compaired to the fireline

If the choice is between FINS and Fireline...go the Fireline exceed for sure..i use it on a few reels. Nice and thin, casts well and good knot strength. I used FINS a while ago..found it to be junk really. But each to their own really.

Agreed.

Fins and original Fireline are truly awful. They are like the Home Brand Sausages - look like Sausages but then it is all going downhill.

If you are new to the superlines, I would recommend you to start with something of a higher quality. The really good ones can be pricey (like $60 for 150m to 200m), but they perform accordingly and last a long long time.

Hope this helps.

For inexpensive good braid try scumline. They're one of sponsors on this site. I ordered some months ago and it hasn't let me down, for its price of $30 for 300m I'd challenge anyone to find a better deal. There are better thinner lines of course but u'd be paying $90+ for 150 yards.

Spend a little extra money and buy some better braid. There are better braids for similar price. Fins is horrible DohDohDohDoh.
