Only 1 K guide on a rod?

G'day to all
I'm getting a spinning rod built up by the local,I have seen the k guides and heard there claims but they are a bit pricey to get a whole rods length.i get wind knots every now and then and it peeves me off ,so would there be benefit in have the first guide a k series and the rest standard? Rod is a 10'2 lbg spin 30lb

Cheers

theres really only one way to find out and thats to try it but if your getting a custom rod built id just bite the bullet and go k guides all the way.

I didn't know the cost of guides was based off frame type. I thought it had alot more to do with what material you choose for example Titanium frame stainless steel frame ect, and SiC, alconite or torzite inserts.

No benifit at all, it won't help reduce wind knots.

Based on what exactly? I puy a k stripper guide on a lox rod and it diminished the wind knots drastically. Same location and same diameter.

Have you seen the way a k guide works in slow motion?

You seem very confident in your assessment.

Spot on.

The K guide on the stripper will help with wind knots on that guide but it's not going to help with the rest of the guides on the rod.
Just bite the bullet and go Alconites on all of the rod, the cost shouldn't work out to be to high.

Based on wind knots not being caused by guides and yes very confident in that assesment.

Go for it if you can only get 1 on there, but as others have mentioned, see if you can get the full set of K's

If u want a full set of top quality guides and don't mind some extra work see if anyone has a snapped rod they might move on cheaply.

I made a franksenstein rod with 3 different guide types on it, ran K for the stripper and the choker only and never have had a guide wrap on the other guides. Could be a coincidence but I love that rod now

Right on, a full set of KRs (KL-H, KL-M, FB, KT + tip) for a 7' bream spin in SS frame and Alconites cost <30 USD.

For added performance on a budget the use of lighter guides (Ti Torzites) for the tip + 2-3 belly guides will add a lot to the "crispness" of a rod with minimal added cost.

The biggest factor in weight reduction in Torzites is that their inner diameters are 1/2 a size larger meaning you fit small guides than you usually would. On top of that the ring materials slightly lighter.

I think it's ok to put one or none on at all. It's 10"2 and rated to 30lb, so I am assuming you are not using silly strength braid/ mono. And I am guessing you are not using really light lure neither. Good to get the k"s but the line choke is more important.
