Nothing better than sitting around 2 ton of burning redgum , drinking beer ,telling lies, talking about what fish were caught and lost during the day , ..... Wake up next morn and the boats in the water (10 mtrs away) ready to go.....Does it get any better?

Im hearing you. The best waterfront property is just 10 metres from the water, and better still its free....

If you like to go camping fine, if you dont thats fine too. Isnt this about doing what you enjoy? Its not a competition to prove you are hard or someone else is soft.

You will note that this is a thread in the 'All things camping' section. Perhaps we should get the mods to start a new section for the best 'Day spa and mocha soy latte' fanboys as well?

I thought real men drank frappacinos? Lattes? Typical of this soft generation

Extra lights under 20 quid!

I saw this on another site and thought it was such a good idea I was going to do it to mine cost me $8.38 for 2x flexible LED strip lights off eBay and a couple of $$ for some of those sticky tabs that the cable ties go through. The rest was found in my shed
.LED strip lights 96cm
.8x sticky tabs
.cable sheath 1.5mtr
.solder and heat shrink

I have taken two pics. One with no lights on and one with my new led lights on. Let me know what you reckon and if you want any more pics ill take some tomorrow.

Cheers Luke

Wink

Bear Grylls calls it Man V Wild, Aussies call it camping.
While I have never had a dirt milkshake, I have slept on the sand in a sleeping bag, just above high tide mark on a secluded South Ozzy beach. I did this because I couldn't see the salmon schools in the dark, and wanted to be there first light on a high tide.
I've eaten sandy crunchy snags and didn't care, I was hungry.
I've slept covered in dried mud after wading through mud flats collecting bloodworms, and after a while, you don't even notice it.
I've camped out with my mates for 4 nights chasing Mulloway along the Coorong, and boy did we stink when we got back.
These are just a few of my "adventures".
Why did I do it? Because the fishing is what matters, everything else just doesn't seem important anymore when I'm fishing.
But at the same time, I won't begrudge a man for staying in a 4 star cabin while I'm roughing it, because different strokes for different folks as they say.
I just really enjoy going "feral" every now and then, and I sure as hell look forward to that long hot shower when I get home, and the many days it takes to remove sand from places that sand isn't meant to go.
Cheers,
Steve

I used to think camping was all about roughing it - until we spent a few Easters down at Aire River.

Our fellow campers would drag tip tray trucks worth of wood and caravans down there.

They would also pride themselves on having barrels full of hot water by using a system similar to this - just on a larger scale.

And at the end of the week - while I was waiting for the awards ceremony for the campers who did it tough and had the most uncomfortable campsites. It quickly dawned on me that there was no award for having the roughest campsite.

The blokes with the cushy set ups, did all the stuff we did - they just had somewhere comfy to sit down at the end of the day.

There are reasons to bring less stuff - but if there's no reason not to - I say bring it

Welshy - those LED strips are great aren't they.

yellow door 1 - love that eski air-con! The water heating coil is a good idea too, and would be compact and fairly simple to make.
