New squidgies
Gave the new squidgies a run this morning and bagged out on lizards and dropped a few. I was using the bloodworm fish. The packaging is much better and the plastics more durable and stretchy. The bloodworm colour is a ripper. It's got a blueish sheen to it under light and a solid blueish colour under UV light. I think I'll be getting some more of these despite the $13 price tag.
My lure held up after catching more than a dozen fish before I lost it to a tailor. I usually use Z Man's especially their new 3'' slim swim but can see myself soaking more squidgies in future. |

I cant comment on the fishability of them or much further - but the colour is way off the original or even multitude of renditions over time.
Screenshot_20171222-170149.jpg 20171222_170741.jpg I think they were best when Blue Fox manufactured them, colours were best earlier in time, since they moved from Malaysia to China they went in the ass.

The bloodworm colour in the squidgie range has been very inconsistent but the bloodworm colour I used today worked a treat. The plastic is much more durable and the packaging has improved out of sight. They are a bit on the expensive side though but the durability is a big plus .

Assuming these new squidgies will have to be stored in Moncross boxes like ZMans.

I picked up a few packs. 3 for $22 in the usual promotion at one of the big stores. Thought they wouldn't include these in the deal as they are a bit pricier than the usual squidgies. Going to try them out on Sunday but I like the look of them.

I tried a pack of the newer squidgie fish but this was not the bio tough variety.
They look awesome and consistent except that they didn't swim very well. They were definitely more durable but more rubber like and not very flexible. |

Yep, the new wriggler is completely different to the older version. Its thinner and I needed a smaller hook than I would use for the original version. The colour is completely different as well. Not sure why they don't just give it a completely new name. Hopefully they will also carry in producing the old shape as well. I tried the new one out. Not for long though as I was targeting whiting on the surface. Picked up a little flattie and a cod on the 100mm bloodworm.

Good to see it producing some fish. Would be better if it was identical in shape to the existing wriggler.

The original wriggler was hands down my favourite plastic, but the quality just became so variable (after they moved the manufacturing to Indonesia?) that I stopped buying them. I was hoping these new ones might be a return to their original glory, but it doesn't sound like it.

Interesting that the new bio range have a completely different shape to the old wriggler. The company seems to have made some changes since John Dunphy sold it.

Since Mr. Dunphy passed away a lot has changed and he wouldn't approve... Edit 20180106: Just looked at a current invoice - Shimano Aust Fishing - was Dunphy not too long ago...
