My Raft
Hey Guys,
Just thought that I would post up a photo of what I fish out of when I want some quiet time. Compleat with fishfinder/gps, live well and air conditioning. ![]() Cheers Nate ![]() |

Hmm that's not totally true...
http://www.capacitysports.com.au/pedal-kayaks Went out in one a couple of weeks ago and had a bit of fun in the bay with it. Good as another option if you like the pedal systems.

Actually i think that those new propel pedal yaks are ok, its great that you can reverse in them and they look the good, plenty of room for storage, but i think the open DohDohDohDohpit or canoe inspired design does limit it to very stable waters. I wonder how they would handle in PPB when a bit of a chop whips up? I have been offshore (out from barwon heads ) and also been in the middle of corio bay with white caps everywhere and felt confident and safe in the hobie outback.
Breamingwithjoy have you had a crack in a hobie??? If so i would be interested to hear your thoughts and how they stack up against each other?? |

They have just released a sit on top version... The Marina range (may not be on the website yet) but they have it in the store. Rob Maya (editor of Yakfisher Magazine) and I went out and had a pedal in them on PPB. He was using the new yak and I was in the sit-in version. Toward the end of the session the bay chopped up a bit and I never felt in danger of being "filled up". Rob jumped off the sit on version and remounted easily so pretty handy in that respect too. There will be a formal review of the Mariner in Sport Fishing Australia Issue 49 for anyone interested.
To answer your other question I haven't had a chance to play in the Hobie but am keen to do so and have a chance to compare the two.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the comments, as to why it doesn't have pedals, is because it was a gift and I didn't want to be rude and return it. Jackall, I made the live well out of a dog food storage container, a small Rule 360 bilge pump, some clear hose, a aerator head, a rechargeable 12 volt battery and a variable timer. If you want some close up photos, just let me know. Cheers Nate |
