To repair or not?

My Motorguide 54lb wireless has been playing up recently and I took it to a local service department today and they've found the servo has died. Looking at approximately $700 for a replacement part and labour and was wondering if it's worth repairing or should I look at something new? The motor is in good/excellent condition otherwise and I have a foot pedal and wireless remote.

Motor is approximately 3 1/2 years old and will be getting used a lot more over winter as I want to really get into some Wivenhoe bass.

Cheers,
Luke

Assumed as much myself. WHat's the general consensus with what to buy from here? Is it worth going the fresh + anode option or should I be looking at the riptide?

Cheers

I'm an absolute fan of the cable steer.
Before anyone buys an ipilot/motorguide wireless/watersnake they should do a search on here and other fishing forums to see the large numbers of guys that are having trouble with them.

I've said this many times , so sorry for repeating it again.
My MG cable steer is now on 7 years old, to date it has cost me a little rubber boot worth 4 bucks.
When I go for a fish , I am more than confident that my cable steer will do what I expect it to do.

I don't think Merc are bringing in many models any more , I think this is a great diservice as they are getting harder to get and many dealers that are selling them are pretty vague on models etc

Go cable steer in either Motor Guide or Min Kota. You really can't go past the reliability

Appreciate the reply, and I'd be quite happy with a cable steer as I don't really use/need any of the more modern features (the remote is cool but I prefer the foot pedal) but I've noticed they all come in 24v? Do they come in 12v (not much information on anything except the Maxxums?).

Cheers,
Luke

Unfortunatly I think you might need to look online for some 12v models. The MG brute springs to mind. I think they are an inhouse motor for either cabelas or bass pro shops.

Let Google be you friend

As far as ive found no cable steer model from minn kota comes in a 12 volt that can be bought with AUS warrenty in Australia. Not sure if its possible to get one order in or not but they do make a 12 volt maxxum 55 pound I think it is. I think motor guide have and import a 12 volt into Australia not too sure what its called tho
