Arrow Needing Rod Builder - Sydney

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for an excellent rod builder based in Sydney. Looking to have a rod or two modded.

Would much appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Also would appreciate if anyone can chip in as to how much I should be expected to pay for guide modifications to a few gloomis rods. Looking at getting some recoils on an IMX blank firstly.

Thanks guys!

G'day guys cheers for that.

Spoke with Tony today he was extremely helpful over the phone. Very interested in getting my rod to him but it sounds like it's going to cost more to mod the rod than what it's actually worth.

Any other rod builders around Sydney? I'm looking for the best. A perfectionist.

Thats why you go custom, rather than modifying a factory built rod, not worth it!

Might be better to sell your loomis and put the money toward a custom.
Unfortunately, if you want the best, it comes at a price.

Another satisfied customer of Tony's here. Got him to change the cheap hypalon grips and reel seat on an old favourite rod of mine to cork and fuji a few years ago and was worth every cent. He is a brilliant builder and extremely helpful and generous with his knowledge. I reckon your better off selling the loomis and either have him build what you want or he has finished rods in his shop that may suit you.

Thanks for the input guys.

Yeah at this stage all I really need is the alconite infills changed to Recoils.

I'm used to fishing recoils now and would like to keep my rods relatively similar with the components.

What would I be expected to pay for having something like 4 guides changed to recoils? Any ideas?

Call West Gosford Bait and tackle and ask how much.

It will provide a comparison.

I'd say you would be looking at close to $100 just for the recoils x 4. They are not cheap.

When I have snapped rods with recoils I have saved them and had them built onto new blanks.

Ok will do cheers for that.

Gave them a call and Bob wasn't in. $100 is not too bad although the rod only cost $200. Is the $100 just for the guides or is that the labour cost as well?

Thanks Dave!
