Gulp Worm

G'day all, just picked up a packet of the gulp worms....

Wondering what the best way to rig them is?? do i just feed it on from the head onto a hws jig and stick the hook out half way through the body like a minnow or shad????

Only asking because there seems to be a heap of tail left on it that's all.....

Cheers Jono

im serious...have you never looked at a jig head after a bream session....if your using a 6 inch worm with a jig hook in one end that your obviously pulling towards you and then catch a bream ...how do you think the hook point got into the breams mouth...

the first post was meant to come across as "yes you will still hookup on a bream." ...i was letting him know that they are long but still good to use...

Sarcasm id def strong with you.

With my experience too many short takes led me to tie on a stinger in teh tail and woul say that 98% of the bream I've caught when fishing with a stinger rig, would be hooked on the stinger and not the head. Snapper and trevally are mostly hooked on the Jighead.

...only black and white no grey.....most of my use with worms involves no stinger...i just cut the worm to 4 inch and have no probs because most of the short takes are not fish i need in a comp...the big fish take it easy enough...i do know lots that use stingers though and i have done this in the past..

Getting a bit more technical now that both sides have been addressed, if one was to use a stinger, would a worm hook be ideal or just a small shortish shanked bait hook?

its only technical when its not in wa hazell...we dont get so serious over here..its our 'she'll be right attitude"...or laziness haha....

but dont use a stinger...its not needed...you waste too much comp time...use a half worm....heads only in a comp as the rats cant bend a head in half as easy as a tail and the rats do like the tail... and i find the big bream always smash the head of most 6 inch worms as im sure they somehow know that if they attack the head then they have definatly disabled the prey...i have lost count of the times i have found dents in my jig heads due to bream teeth..

i should say though that i have gone to a stinger in walpole out of frustration and it worked...but make sure to debarb the hook in case it gets really swallowed

hi,when using stingers on the worm, just want to know what everyone uses to tie it to the jighead, and if braid, does colour or diameter make a difference.
