Gamakatsu ROUND 211 ?

What applications do you guys and girls think these jigs are best suited to. Examples of what you use them for would be great ...l plan to give them a go on my bass minnows. lm currently using Nitros in the bullet profile for this job...Cheers Steve

Steve I use them on everything from bass minnows and eyeball tails to 2' grubs. Never had any probs hooking up, but I do like the action you get when using nitros on the bass minnows.

Steve this is just my personal opinion but I feel they are too short for use with Bass Minnows. You will tend to get a lot of short takes with them. Having said that some people have good success using them with the bass minnows but personally I only use them for 2" grubs. They work really well for this aplication. My favourite jig for bass minnows is an Envirojig 1/16 size 2 in the darter head. They give them a great action and the hookup rate is good.

Cheers, Dror

Steve, i use finesse jigs the squidgy ones for bass minnows as they suit the head of the minnow really well.

I used to use gama 211's but they only hting that put me off them was the fact you get five in a pack and are expensive. Too expensive to go losing ten or so a day in the blackwood.

They are good though for sure and recommend them for 2" grubs and most other placcies.

Red face

Steve don't listen to Dror, he never catches any fish .
Just kidd'n. The Envirojigs are bloody good, and they're eaier to find than the nitros.

If you're using nitros already, stick with them, the round heads for the gamakatsu 211's won't give them as much action and don't really fit the profile of a minnow half as well either. Besides, I'm fairly sure nitro use gamakatsu hooks for most of their jigheads, so you're not compromising anything.

I think this thread has just given me the answer for which jigs to use with the e3 grubs ..... being so tiny they almost need a size 6 squidgy jig although size 4 will work, these gama 211's being so short in the shank should be perfect ......

The only problem I have found with them is that they are considerably weaker than normal jigheads and tend to straighten alot easier. I think this is due to the short shank and the extra pressure placed on the curve. The heated lead probably also causes it to weaken closer to the curve aswell.

Funny that u should mention that the 211's are weaker, cos a few days ago I gave one of my 211's to mate and he got positively ripped, 30-40% drag was being torn out and then *poof*, bye bye fish and in comes a straightened hook.

To be fair tho, I think this was more a case of a bad hookup on the wrong spot of the fish's mouth(whatever it was), cos the 211s have never been a problem for me. I have a heap of Nitros but I prefer the 211s when I'm using small SPs like Hawgs and grubs. Anyway, jmo.

BTW, did u know that ur post on the 211, was ur 211st post?

Matt

Haha how strange is that You should test the 211's on a snag and compare them with other jigs. I think you will find they are alot weaker. I try to use normal jigheads now when I'm fishing tight country.
