Bream Aquaculture and Aquariums

Hey Guys.
I am very intersted in starting my own Bream Aquarium. I know Fremantle Tafe and Murdoch Uni have the Bream Aquaculture system well into the swing of things.
Bream grow slower in freshwater, this would make things ideal in an Aquarium as the fish wouldn't outgrow the tank.
I know that Veba's Aquariums used to have a large Bream Population, does anyone know whether it still exists. Also, Ira, can you give me any tips on the subject as i remember that you mentioned your personal Bream tank!

Thanx

Dave

Dav ,
I did aquaculture at tafe for 12 months. Bream are realy easy to keep in a tank , and yes they do grow slower in freash water , but also when they are put in an enclosed area they grow even slower. Most of the tank's with Bream in it that I have seen have had wild fish caught with a net at a very young age.
Not to say that you can't buy then from the shop. If you wait a couple of months there should be plenty around as they have just sporned.

Good luck with it , tank's are awsome , I have three big ones and two small ones. I don't have Bream in any but you have got me thinking about it.

Regards Ben Scott

Hey thanx guys.
Yeah Geoff, i went ther today and bought three, but i think i might go back and get more. They seem to be very much into schooling!
The fish in Veba's are supplied by Dennis who ran the Ocean Farm in Freo until recently (he sold it). I bought three fish of about 10cm, and they prolly won't grow much. I want to see how they act from real close up, so i need to make it as realistic as possible.
I might see if and how fish react when different fishing lines areplaced in front of them. I can then test Visibility and stuff.
Should be cool!!!
Hey Geoff, how small is that fish in your pics site, the one sitting in your palm, i could put that in my tank for sure!!!

Thanx again

Dave
