Question pre-fishing??

have been reading about the comps you guys hold & was interested about pre-fishing a river before a comp.i dont fish the comps but may do in the future but wanted to know why you have a pre-fish ban in the swan/canning before the next comp.i can understand fishing a river at walpole with less boat traffic than perth may affect the fishing, going by your stories it obviously did,but with the swan being near a big population and the river getting hundreds ?? of people fishing it weekly if the fishing is adversely affected every week.i dont know how many of you fish the comps but say if all the members of this site fished
every week that is only a small faction of the population who fish the river.do you think it makes a difference.i would say though that the majority of fish catch would only be by a minority of the fishers.is pre-fishing only for boats or shore based as well??

Hey Matty.
There are previous threads on this subject.
I am with you on this subject as i don't believe that the people who fish the comps make up for enough of the population who fish the river everyday.
I definately believe it will make a difference in the more regional river systems, as we have all been shown by the Walpole event.
I think the prefish is shore aswell?
Not sure.

Personally i have no problems with it, and i don't think too many do. It isn't that hard to fish for another species i the ocean or just go to another river for 2 weeks. I am very interested to see whether it does make a difference in the Swan though.
It is a very hard thing to experiment with as there are so many factors on how fish feed.

Spot on Dave. Head to Moore River to pre-fish there.

There are also plenty of other places to fish.

In my opinion if there was no ban, we would fish the hell out of all the good areas, its just our silly way of thinking and that would mean a hell of a lot of fish hit in that time (cause if they are on for us, we should out fish all the baities around).... and theres a reasonably high probability that we wouldn`t get those fish again during the comp. It improves our chances for the better - without doubt.

cheers
