marabou jigs

anyone know where i can find Marabou hair

im gonna see if i can get some and tie some marabou jigs for bream,

marabou has a lot of action in water , very lifelike! i rekon theyd go off on pylon or even flats brem, added advantage is that they'll be blowie resistant , which is always good in the lower swan and canning!

I've got the feeling a maribou's a stork. But then I'm sure they don't use stork feathers for fly-tying material anymore, so it's likely just chook feathers from a fluffy part of the animal...Still not too sure to be honest.

YOu can get maribou at craft shops all over the place.

Cheers,

Owen

Hey Zimeric
Go to Flyworld they would deffinatley sell marabou hair, they have so much material for fly tying it's not funny. Have seen Marabou jigs at Bluewater tackle (morley) but as i recall they were quite large. Flyworld is in Bayswater if you don't Know.

Zimeric how about Bucktails?

Zimeric,

Hey mate check out the new 1/16oz bucktails from SPRO. Very nicely made, Gamakatsu hooks even. Bought a bunch for early season bluegill and crappie. So far only caught pickerel on it. Casts nice on 4lb mono, should fly with fireline. Water is still is the mid to uper 30's though.

youre thinking of Carabou

deer hair is good for flies as it is hollow and floats, great for poppers, but MARABOU is the soft feathers from the underside of certain birds,

on a side note:
a Marabou stork is the ugliest MOFO bird you will ever see and i dont believe they are related to the fly tying material in anyway.
