Inflatables

I have been looking at Inflatable boats for my fishing, not cheapie ones, good ones designed for fishing, around the $200- $300 mark. Im a student, turning 18 this year and I want something to get out on the water, thats cheap, easy to lausnch and easy to transport. Im on a limited budget but mad keen. I was thinking of getting a good inflatable designed for 1-2 people with a 12V electric motor on the back. This would fit my above requirements so i can get out on the water. The one im looking at is made of reinforced material that is hard to puncture.

Does anyone else have experience fishing from inflatables that could offer me some advice in this area?

this subject had a topic a month or so ago try doin a search....as for the 300 bucks, does that include a leccy? because in my opinion you would be hard pressed to find one with an electric for that price. but good luck mate

Yeah thanks.

After reading through the old topics inflatables don't really have a good name, if I had a car of my own I would get a Kayak but I don't and won't for a few years. Im looking at Sevylor Fish Hunter the 3 seater with an electric motor which comes to almost $500.

Has anyone else fished out of these boats, are they made of tough enough material?

check out the seyvlor range. The tahiti is a well priced two man kayak but watch out, this one i have heard from users is hard to paddle long distances. If your after a one man the one person ZAMBEZI would be the go for sure ! They are a good unit sold by bargain boat bits dont dispair its not on their webbie site but saw it advertised in their latest catalog. Top shelf stuff and well rated by a mate who has used the 2 man one.

Also have alook at www.paddling.net under reviews. Great site. 300 bucks if stretched can get you some better quality stuff if ordered from the states. I would recommend the zambezi myself. There is a two man unit which sells for around 750 with pump and oars.

The main concern with inflatables is how it tracks the water. You want one with some form of a fin/skeg so that they can be paddled long distances.

Have fun shopping!

Can you get good one man sit on top Kayaks for around $500-$600?

I just asked my dad about roof racks and they may be ok , so inflatable is not the only option anymore.

I'm on to my second inflatable now and enjoy fishing out of them, almost more than my 14 footer; its peaceful, relaxing and easy. Sure you goto watch hooks and fish pointy bits but if you are aware of it you take measures to minimise risk of punctures ie land fish onto towel or tub lid or similar. I fish mostly landlocked areas so tide isnt an issue but watch for wind as you will be blown in the wrong direction very easily.

Do a search on 'charger question' and you can see what I picked up for around $350 including boat, motor and battery, mind you boat was on special. (do know how to copy thread)

Cant say I'd use it in highly populated areas as I'm sure people will have a good giggle but hey - who cares
