My fly rods are being put to very good use at the moment.... they're providing homes for a number of spiders since I started bream spinning.
My flies would have made great christmas decorations but some of them scare small children and not-so-small ones of the female gender. Some of my pet-pranks are to toss some of these flies near the girls and they'd jump and scream... Should resurrect that prank now that they've had a chance to forget what I did before... On a different note.. why did I not succeed in getting a girlfriend for the longest time?

I used to do a heap of swoffing for bream (hence the nickname) but plastics have been my main focus for the last few years. I've recently picked up the long wand again for jews, as soon as I crack one I'll probably get the bug again.

One of the reasons my fly rod is on a long sabbatical is because I fish landbased and flyfishing landbased in Victoria is very limited. Add that to time restrictions that I have on fishing time (including travel) and the spin rod with SPs becomes much more practical. If I had a boat, I'd go out with the fly rod to chase salmon in the bay for starters and then try other species, but given I only have 5-6 hours every weekend for fishing landbased, my options are very limited.

If I were you I'd have a serious chat to Ian Sewell about casting shoting heads, but even then I'd give serious thoought to using full WF lines in sinking and floating.
As for the need for someone who knows something about bream and flies, why not give Ron Pearson a buzz, you can get him at rimp@westnet.com.au I'm sure he would pass on some tips. On flies try these, they are a close approximation of the stuff Ron uses, for a 2w. Cherers Max |

Wooley buggers, no I don't think so, they are just black flies with very short tails. Small to fit a 2 weight. Max
