strip plank canoe

Hi all,
getting kinda tired of my proge canoe and was thinking of building a strip plank canoe to fish from. I have done a lot of research on the net and have come up with a design similar to a Canadian canoe with a few modifications. I was just wanting your thoughts on the subject,

the details are: 15ft long with a max beam of 100cm and sides about 600cm height from the chine
there will be 3 bench seats , a deck on the bow for my bow mount and maby a large eski

materials will be
* ply (a thin finishing ply i think, I can get it cheap from work)
epoxy resin, resin filler glass cloth,
bulkheads will be mdf or ply and I will use the staple method attaching the strips
The hull will be painted , probably with 2pac unless any one can think of an alternative

If u can see any flaws or can give any advice it would be much appreciated
thanks,
Dillon

Gday Dillon.

For years I have wanted to build a strip plank sea kayak but as yet havent got around to it. It would be a very satisfying project, so best of luck.

Im a big fan of leaving the natural timber finish, similar to your photo, that's what I would do.

Again, good luck.

Gerard.

Would you need to steam the wood so you can bend it into shape??? wouldn't this be quite heavy????

actually the process uses very thin bits of wood that can bend easily around the bulkhead forms it also makes it a very lite form of construction.
i am thinking of leavin natrule but becuse i am using ply to keep the costs down im not sure how it will look
