Heartland Z????

Hi all,

Consider to buy up some Heartland Z rods but I've never fishied with any of them. I've been looked at the:

631LFS ( finesse special )
601LFS
591MLFS ( jighead special )
jerking special (60LRS)

In your opinion which is a good rod for soft plastics when fishing oyster racks etc? How those rods compare to the loomis IMX, GLX.

Any comment would be great.

I recently bought a Saegake and a Midge Direction, they're nice little sticks.

I haven't used them, I doubt I'll use the Midge on bream as it's very soft. I'll give it a go on some trout next week. The Saegake feels like a good HB rod, but it's so light that a Luvias 2004 feels heavy on it.

The Jerking special is a pure HB rod. It would be a perfect rack rod as its got tones of grunt with a nice fast taper.

The fennese special is ment to be one of the most awsome SP rods going around.

Ask Chris Lemmis about the heartland Z range, he knows all about them and should fill you in.

I think I will get one erking special (60LRS) for HB and 631LFS ( finesse special ) for SP

I had a look at the Midge Direction the other day when I went to check out the HBs over at Ottos, and all I can say is, the rods look quite unusual, and I actually like it

John (works at Ottos, nice guy) actually showed me how strong it was. He grabbed it by the tip (as tackle shop employees tend to do to display the strength of some rods) and asked me to pull up as hard as I can, and I did, with TWO hands and dammit, this rod is STRONG. The 'bend' went all the way to the top of the butt and I never got the feeling it was gonna break, even tho it was so flexible.

Matt,
The Midge is a solid blank and as such is stronger than most "standard" blanks. I love the rear grips on it too, that's why I got one.

I saw a couple of HLZ today they were a

631MLFS
6101MLFS

I didn't get a chance to have play as they were in a glass cabinet and i was in a rush. Can someone enlighten me as to what applications would best suit these rods?
