CVZ253 Drag Upgrade to HT100
Hi all
Has anyone got the Japan version CVZ253 and upgraged to HT100. I am thinking to upgrade mine since I try out my mate CVZ he got upgarged to HT100 and it provide xtreme smoothies performance and awesome drag pressure. The orginal Daiwa drag was great but this gives you that extra power for those bigger, hard fighting fish. |

Penn's HT 100 are carbon fiber drag washers. You can swap out any reel that you have as long as you have the sizing of the washers right. Trust me the penn's HT 100 drag is better than shimano and daiwa. My mate got his 10kg hard fighting kingie on Saturday with ease, that's very good stopping power for a small reel.

Whats price difference have you been quoted between the Smoothies and the HTs? When I bought my HTs they were pretty damned pricey. I still haven't put them in my Stradic.
As for a real answer to your question, go and ask on a forum where more than 4lb line is used. http://www.westernangler.com.au/forum is a good start. Sign up and ask Hal his opinion on HTs over Smoothies.

I spoke with a mate in the know at an east coast tackle shop recently and they have been upgrading the Millionaire drags with washers from Jack Erskine in Cairns and there is a big improvement. Seeing as though Jack is synonomous with Penn tackle over the years might be the same kits (carbon fibre washers). Try his website for details or sling him an email. I have a CVZ203 A so will be going down this route for mine after new year when I hopefully am able to chase those Glenbawn bruisers.
