Luvias vs Certate
Any comments on the Luvias 2500 v the Certate 2500? Will use it with 14lb-20lb fireline salt. I am really concern about the performance and quality of the reel(not the $$$ at the moment). After played with my friend certate 2500 R-custom last week, I am really please about that reel, very smooth, damn good smooth drag (8kg) but I don't know how it compare with the Luvias 2500. Any comments would be great!!!

I recently bought a Certate 2500-R to match up with a Millerod BeastBuster (soon...) to be my heavy peligic outfit. I'll be spooling it with 14lb fireline and using it for casting sluggos for kingies.
I haven't spooled it up yet, but it certainly feels like a solid reel. I use Luvias's 1500's and a 2004 for all my bream work and love them, but don't consider them "solid" enough to be used for heavier work (although they're great on jewies, big trevally and bonnies). The Certate just seems like a much more robust reel. I'll let you know how it goes when I've had a fish with it.

Hi Swoffa
Yes I agree with you. The certate seems more robust than Luvias especially the 2500 R(just like a little version of saltiga). I've already asked my mate to get one for me direct from Japan. I will used it for 9' slug-go for Kingie and my mate from Japan told me there is a rod that is particular suitable for this reel just like the saltiga rod. Also where do you get your certate 2500R from and how much do you paid? |

I would go with the Certate 2500-R Custom as well for that kind of work... (Well I do have one). BTW, the drag goes to 7kg......
Andrew, where did u get the Custom 2500-R? Jun? I got mine form him. BTW, I wouldn't put 14lbs fireline on it.. to stiff... I ended up putting on a Harro Braid 20lbs about as - 3lbs thickness..........great line and very limp................ I'm macthing it to the BD Softbait TE Rod

Glenn,
I got mine at a Otto's. Apparently Daiwa Australia have started supplying them, but only to a very limited number of stores and at a fixed retail price. I think we'll be seeing a heap of Jap spec Daiwa gear hitting our market soon, there's already a few Heatlands popping up.

I still don't understand about the problems you're having with the 2004? I can hear the drag on mine........

Mine has a loud (normal) clicking sound when I screw the spool down to tighten/loosen the drag, but the actual drag make next to no noise. I contacted Harada about it twice and see said that it is normal. I know it's not right.
He won't be getting my business again.
