Luvias v Twinpower

Any comments on the merits of the Luvias 1500 versus the Twinpower 1000/2000? Trying to decide between the two, but have tried neither.

Cheers

Why? Is the slow oscillation feature of the Twinpower a plus for braid?

Cheers

the luvias with out a doubt. just compare bail arms and you wont find it to hard to decide which one'

Bail arms

Dan,

I like both my Shimanos and Daiwa reels. i've always been a Daiwa man in the past but like both now.

The air bail on the Daiwas is still a hollow tube...not solid. If the reel is treated properly bail problems are not an issue. this is my defence for shimano but I do prefer the Daiwa

Twin-what... ?

Go the Luvias!

The Daiwa has a far superior drag and is a joy to fish with, The Shimano is just another spinning reel...

G'day yeh i know they are still hollow but i just get scared playing with a biomaster and a twin power bail arm they seem so weak, the daiwa to me are just far better reels, thats why i use them and only them in the spinning reels,. but game reels is a diff story,

cheers Dan

My thoughts on the bail arm thing. I like both manufacturers. Always favoured Daiwa, have a lovely Team Whisker tournament 700ii , now 12 years old, its been real good. Last year I got a 2500 sustain and think it too is very good, and now await the arrival of a 2000 Certate, which I'm sure will also be good, so I have no preference. While I like the look of that big fat hollow bail arm of the daiwa and it no doubt has superior strength, I would absolutely HATE to ever bend it. You simply could not get that thing back to perfect without getting a new one, I'm sure youve all seen what happens to tube when a bend (kink) has been put into it, whereas if you bent the Shimano arm then you could bend it back and it probably wouldnt hamper your fishing if you did a good enough job of straightening it out. But to pour cold water on my own ranting I would have to say that something crazy would have to be going on to bend either in the first place. Both good systems in my book. My 2c. Cheers.

It's got to be a big f*** off fish to bend a bail arm before you break the line. Or were you using 80lb braid for your breaming Dan?

the certate is now available in australia, they are very nice. i would buy one of these over a luvias or sustain any day. at around $600 they are fantastic value for money.

Certate over Luvias

Certate over Luvias

Don't know if I'm brave enough to make that call.......

They are both terrific reels.... for light finesse work I still prefer my luvias over the certate........

Otto's in Sydney just got the Certate's in this week and I spent a good while playing with them.
IMO, they are nice reels and I'll probably get a couple, but they're not a bream reel. They look a lot more suited to more robust style fishing like casting Sluggos for kingies, they're not a finesse reel.

lots of top anglers use Shimano Sustains, the Twin power is said to better than a Sustain. I have 2 Luvias which are great. But form what i have seen/heard so is the Twin Power.
