Quick change lure options

As the title suggests, I am looking at an option for some sort of a snap or ?? in order to change lures without re-tying the loop knot. Option to be used for plastics and hardbodies for bream and flathead etc. Will also look at a stronger option to attach to heavier outfit to throw plastics at jew, snapper etc.

What would you all suggest?

Dave

I was just thinking about this the other day after I had cut my finger nails a bit short. It was quite chilly and I was trying to change heavy snaps on Jewie lures.

If you are going to use big snaps - dont cut your thumb nails just before a session. You'll thank me later. You might need some of this cream aswell

Decoy do some nice small profile snaps - the ones in the photo are rated to 90lb

There might be some info of interest in this thread for the bigger stuff

For heavier work on Snapper, Jew I use Mustad Fastach clips. These are fast and efficient and do not come undone or let go. They come in several sizes although I found them a bit fiddly in the small Bream and Flathead sizes.

When using clips for Flathead and bream I use either the decoy or Owner P20 single clips http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...ucts_id/14244/

I have been using Decoy for a long time 1.5 for finesse and 3 for 8 kg on Jew. I have no reason to change! love them.

Thanks for all the replies, I have chosen a couple of different types to try. Breaden snaps were also recommended, now just have to find someone who stocks them.

Can't go wrong with the Breaden snaps very light & yet super strong use them all the time.....
But usually comes down to personal choice, good luck.

Decoy also do a spiral snap. Never used one though. Always stuck to the Decoy rounds in 00.

Be careful of the Breaden snaps where the line attaches as it is like a split ring and after repeated casting on light lines the join in the ring will weaken the line.

Lost a few squid jigs this way..

I have been using these for a while now and have confidence in them up-to their rated capacity.
