For the Shimano Reel Mechanics
Which little piece of technology would provided the better stability under load and less play...
The addition of X-Ship or The bearing in the reverse nut the main shaft goes through? can the reverse nut be replace on reels like stradics etc with the stella version? thanks |

I've tried putting the rotor nut with the bearing onto the Stradic FJ however the oscillation of the shaft and the spool support washer hits it at its lowest oscillation.
There are a number of factors with shaft friction however pumpnand wind seems to be best than going hard at skull dragging against the gears. I could write heaps more but on my phone which sucks man grapes...

yes, understood..
but is there a definitive answer among people who know to which takes better advantage over the other inside a shimano reel? ie. if you could buy custom built reels and you had a choice of the nut/bearing or the extra support bearing to the lower of the pinion gear which would it be? I've definitely noticed the difference in having a bearing in the spool believe it or not. I've noticed a big difference in the reels like Twinpower and Sephia; both with the same body as the 07 Stella, bearing in the spool, MG body, 9+1 bearings, etc. Minus the nut/bearing which only features in the Stella's. X-ship however features in pretty much every shimano reel now. Personally I'd take the nut/bearing over the extra pinion bearing any day. I think the main shaft is one of the most important instruments when reeling in big fish on small reels. I mainly asked because I've been tossing up whether to buy another Stella FD or new Twin Power. Being only reserved for the Stella's, I think its probably a worth while bit of gear. |

Buy a Certate and get all of these features plus a full metal body

Mid range Daiwas have the bearing in the rotor nut. Eg. TD Sol, Luvias

the closest I've come to a Daiwa reel was the Ignis about a year ago. I've contemplated the Morethan but only to match my Vanquish Limited reels. (black & gold)
For me, the drag and the line capacity just isn't there. For my own good I will forever stick to Shimano. 15 + reels being shimano, I would hate to find something in the Daiwa range that's missing in the Shimano's and end up with 15+ Daiwa reels also. kolp - I've never worried about warranty. half of my reels are JDM 07,08,09's. All metal has never been a concern for me, only for my offshore reels. |

the 15 Twinpower has a metal sideplate unless you are referring to the Twinpower SW which has a plastic sideplate.
