what type of screws t ouse on your tinnie

I am getting my tinnie soon, can i use screws into (Not the Hull) the boat to mount things like rod holders cleats etc . I take it certain metals like brass will cause corrosion, is stainless steel suitable, (I see that they sell stainless steel fasteners in boat shops)?

Stainless Steel or Monel metal screws are what you want.
Steer well clear of copper/brass with your aluminium hull.

Hi Rodmy.

Stainless steel screws are fine. But I strongly suggest that you also buy yourself a tube of Duralac. It's an anti-corrosive jointing compound which inhibits electrolytic corrosion between dissimilar metals.

A tube will cost you around $25 but will last you the life of your boat (generally)

Listen to Big Muddy about the stainless/Duralac combo - you'll never have a problem for the life of your boat
