DAIICHI SEIKO Knot Assist 2.0

anyone use this tool for the fg?, looks like a good and easy way to keep tension on the line than trying to do it the traditional way with the rod.

already tie it that way, I'm thinking it will be easier in the yak/boat with the tool

Yep, I got one.
Super easy and quick to tie an FG anywhere, even in a yak and never had one slip.
IMO well worth the money.

intresting to see on a vid that they do a half hitch with the leader, I'm guessing its just extra security

The half hitch on a leader defeats the purpose of this knot to be superslim.
No need for this. Still superstrong without it.

However make sure the braid is not frayed before tieing. Cost me a good fish at Coota comp

Agreed Alex.
Might as well just slim beauty if you're going to half hitch the leader in an FG.
I have this tool (because 2 left hands and all thumbs) and can now tie a good FG on the 'yak. (Without 1/2 hitch in the leader)
