Which blades??

Hey all just looking for some advice on different types of blades and their application in different areas. Have always had a few vx 35s and 40s and have never really got into them despite picking up a fish here or there. Recently bought a couple zx 35 blades and am in love with them after having a flick this arvo late and pulling a few quality fish with very little experience in using these lures. Am now looking at the new ecogear breamer vibes (can't wait to get some) anyway long story short what is the difference (if any) between these 3 types of blades?? Some are heavier but surely the basic action of all of them is pretty similar? Or maybe I'm way off base and there is a different scenario where one would work better than the other ? Anyway just looking for some insight from somebody with a bit more experience than myself which would be most people on here. Thanks.

Generally the main difference that comes with size with blades is the intensity of the vibration and the water displacement. The larger the blade the larger the vibration. If you were fishing in dirty water with lots of current i would use the zx 40 and above, simply because they are easier for the fish to locate. In clean water i would do the opposite, opting for the smaller, more finnesse vibes for finicky fish in shallow clear water. Hope this helps.

what colour vx35?

I have looked at buying a couple but unsure of colour!

I really don't think that Eco-gear blades are worth the money. The only real difference with the ZX ones are the assist hooks. If you buy assists and put them onto any blade your hookup rate will increase. Smaller blades actually put out more vibrations as they have less resistance in the water. Get a TT 1/8 and put assists on, same result of more hookups and bizarrely enough better fish. A $5 gold 1/8oz blade with assists (be they Eco-gear hooks or any other brand) will catch heaps.

As for higher end HBs, you cannot match the really good Japanese ones as the weights, profiles, finishes etc cost money to make therefore the end product looks, feels, swims much better and costs more too. Blades are a piece of stamped metal, there is no technological advantage conferred to the Japanese.

For the record, I LOVE blades and metals in general.

The VX has a more subtle action compared to the ZX and the new BV is somewhere inbetween. I find sometimes the VX works better when the fish are a bit shut down but I tend to use the ZX a lot more. The main advantage the new BV has is the translucent colours and the ZX style with a slightly more subtle action. Only early stages in testing the BV but I like it so far. Casts like a bullet to.

I catch heaps on ebay blades. I'd say its one of the few lures where paying a premium doesn't make much difference. Fishing them with confidence is what puts fish on the end.

Dunno why I never got into them much before (always seemed to go with a sp or hard body) they've been accounting for plenty of fish since I started tying them on! Especially in the deeper water where I don't do a lot of fishing usually just fish flats or some form of structure racks, hulls, pontoons etc. Definitely prefer the ZX prob just their eye appeal but really liking the assist hooks too. Have t to buy a packet of spares and upgrade my bents and other blades I reckon.
