Hi I'm ribskull
Hey, I'm ribskull and I love fishing. I'm from melbourne although I just got back from bundeberg and I'm quite disappointed in the landbased fishing here but I really enjoy catching fish and so I go out anyway. I used to be primarily bait but I rarely take bait with me anymore as catching fish on a lure is more exciting and more satisfying.
My all time favourite fishing experience was when I went out targeting Barra on a few live mullet I caught earlier, although it was overcast and just before sunset so i got out my Samaki skitch nano and had a flick of a junior spook(stick bait). It was quite shallow and I caught a bit of weed on first cast but 2nd cast did the trick and I landed my first bass on surface lure. That day I also snapped shimano raider but I was too ecstatic with my bass on surface and a pb 97cm Barra to care. I still enjoy bait fishing because it can be relaxing even if they aren't on the bite, and I spend a lot of time alone and what great place to be relaxing in the nature. Not a big fan of bait fishing in melbourne though. Anyways I'm about ready to sleep. So that's it for now I'm sure you'll see more of me all over the forum as I like jumping into discussions on the forums. |

G'day Ribskull,
Bundy has some great fishing! 97cm on a barra is fantastic, they are such powerful fish. I've given up on bait except when targeting sharks, I find that soft plastics with a heap of s-factor etc can be fished like bait and if you rig them on circle hooks it is a pretty lazy way to relax on the water. |

![]() Was brilliant spot we nailed small queens, and tarpon on surface, you could see barramundi smashing on the other side on the flats sometimes, pleny of snags to the left where we pulled heaps of nice jack up to 50cm being the biggest. And lots of others like bream flathead cod grunted shovel nose, and the odd whizz bang. |
