Luvias vs sol 2
I'm in the market for a new reel, how does a daiwa luvias 2004 compare to a daiwa sol 2 2508? I own the sol I just want something to compare a luvi to. It will be bought from japan (when the Aussie dollar is a little better).
Cheers, Oli. |

Hey mate, I can't compare the two as I've never owned a sol but I've got two luvias 2004's and love em, nice and light too.

The sol is a nice reel, I love mine but I just think the luvi will feel heaps better. Anyone have a luvias on a volkey? It's what it will be paired with.

Yup, had a luvias 2004 on my volkey sfs 6'8, balances well very light and love the sound of the drag.

I always thought the Sol II was a Caldia with a paint job, metal body and two extra bearings. They share the same body design.
I would prefer a Luvias (JDM one specifically). Higher class of body design and dare I say better quality control in manufacture. But my Caldia has been demoted to all the bait fishing I do, and it still does its' job very well.

Weight difference is thew between the sol and luvias in the same size. The luvias is light by a bit.
Sol2 comes with the rcs Knob. Luvias drag sounds sick..... sol2 is a lot quieter. Both are pretty smooth. |

Used to have a luvias 2004 jdm and paired it with my volkey 5-10 6'3" on occasion. Personally thought it was too light on that rod and prefer my 2000 2010 Tate on it as a bass, flathead, shallow water squire combo. Not into feather weight combos personally, but i don't fish longer than 3-5 hours normally.

I just upgraded my old 2004 Caldia's to 2004h Luvias's and I'm wrapped with their performance. They are paired with Nordic Sharpshooters and balance beautifully.
BTW they are showing $250 on digi again. |
