Similar to but cheaper than nitro vapor?
Used a friends Nitro Vapor and bream finesse recently and liked the solid feel of these rods but were so light to use. Can anyone tell me of a rod that might be similar to use but does cost $450??

I know lox make a very similar rod to the vapor and they
almost look similar and half the price. |

I have both and prefer the vapor but the lox can do everything the vapor can do at half the price. I've caught salmon to 7kg on the lox and only caught choppers and bream on the vapor.

Gday Bashman
I have a Lox 1-3 Kg 7ft and heard heaps of stories about broken Tips etc , I have used mine for good while now , Landed Flatties to 60cm and many bream to 35cm , and last trip landed a 43cm Bass (Released) and the rod worked perfectly, I have no hesitation recommending them, they are great value for the money. As everyone's has said, the lox yoshi's are a very similar rod and I'd say even copies of the vapors. However you get what you pay for and the tips on them do break much more easily

Had the lox and now own a vapor...
The lox is probably just as good but would say it's just alttle softer.. I was worried about the tip breaking but I think it was more of a problem with the old ones and also being mistreated in some cases. Sounds like the exact rod your looking for 😉 |

Are you guys using a 1 or 2 piece? I probably prefer the 2 just for travel reasons

Gday Bashman,
The Lox I have is the LS7023 Model and 2 Piece, I have total confidence in the rod and that includes the tip , i have loaded it up many times and thought "here we go" but it has handled everything i have given it to the point where it is not even an issue anymore , the tip issue is a thing of the past. when i first purchased it i thought it was a bit on the stiff side, but i was comparing it to the Pfleuger 1-3 KG i have which now feels a little noodley in comparison. Initially i could cast better with the Pfleuger but now i have grown to like its characteristics and is my go to rod for most Bream and Flatty work. I would recommend them to anyone Steve |

Thanks Steve and others will have a serious look at the lox. Out of interest what reel are you running on it?

The vapor now comes with cheaper guides making it more affordable. Check the website.

If your looking for a rod that is actually stronger than what it seems like, then grab a Berkley Dropshot Gen4 in the 1-3 or 2-4kg. I regularly use the 2-4 and yes, cause its stiffer it takes used to casting but it will handle anything. They are on the cheap now as a new version apparently coming out next year. About 1/5 the price of the Nitro.
In all honesty, i never used a Nitro and only held one in a shop. Weren't they overrated weight wise ? So their 2-4kg was actually labelled as 1-3 or something like this ??? Their warranties seems excellent though. |

I would possibly try and grab a majorcraft ms-x for maybe around 250 as I reckon it would be similar I used my truzer for the first time and loving it and I think my Vapor will be my backup rod |

The 1-2kg vapor in 6'6 feels amazing in the hand. Different action to the Lox despite their aesthetic similarities.
