Daiwa Caldia 2011 problem

I purchased 2 brand new Caldia's during the week, a 2004 and a 2500. The 2004 is perfect, it feels like silk when retrieving it, but, on the other hand the 2500 felt grainy but i thought it would wear itself in after a bit of use. So I spent quite a while just winding the handle and whilst the graininess appeared to improve slightly when spinning fast, spinning it slowly was a different matter.

So, yesterday I managed to get out on the water for 5 hours and the grainy feeling on the slow retrieve never improved. I couldn't feel my lure at all, just this gritty feeling.

Should I persevere with this reel for awhile longer or would you send it back straight away?

Not sure what to do as I have never come across this before, but find it unusual that one is perfect straight out the box and the other isn't.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Di

Take it to where you bought it from for a replacement.
If they are trying to talk you into anything but replacement on the spot, say NO.
If you're somehow sucked into the send it off warranty, expect long wait and the same issue reel to be returned back to you and a note that says it's functioning normaly which means it's fine by their standard.
End of story, straight replacement on the spot.

Thanks for all the responses.

I bought it online from Ray and Anne's so cant return it in person. One would hope that they would exchange it straight away and not do anything dodgy.

I will contact them and let them know and ask for a complete exchange and see what they say.
