Suspending Cranks?

Hi guys - just wondering if anyone can tell me of any other Crankbaits that suspend, apart from Cranka Cranks?

I love my Atomic Cranks but find them too buoyant in some situations, even when loaded up with suspend-dots, and most other ones I've looked at seem to be floating lures.

Cheers, Goody

I usually use cranka cranks when needing a suspending lure but I also have Pontoon21 crack jacks which suspend and I think the P21 Greedy Guts also suspends - not that I've tried it. Dunno if they fall into the category of crankbaits or not

I agree with you on the Atomics though. Love the action. Hate the bouyancy. I ended up pulling something that was more tungsten putty than crank through the water

Thanks guys - yes, Greedy Guts, Atomic Shads - those are great lures too - I'm really after more of the 'fat' style cranks rather than the shad/minnow types

Jackall Chubby Suspend is the only other one that comes to mind that I use.

The Hurricane Fatty is just a floater, think SX40 type float so just a small ball of tungsten putty and they suspend.

Just get some fly tying lead and wrap it around your hook shank and youll have a suspending atomic crank

Austackle sakana SD40. Have a few of these bit fatter than a cranka crank but not as fat as an atomic

are suspending lures meant to stay where you stop them or slowly rise.. mine slowly rises back up. sometimes faster than normal. i guess that depends on salinity levels??

i have atomics, daiwa and austackle ones, all do more or less similar things.

I too love the atomic cranks, they have a great action and tow of my Favourite Colours GGS GBS. I generally upsize the hooks to a size 12 and even sometimes a size 10 on the middle point. This plus some putty or lead tape, I generally keep it to a very slow floater in salt.

The Crankas cover nearly all the colour options you'd want (except for Carmen red) and suspend straight out of the box.

For the Jackall Chubbys (Brown Suji Shrimp) I do pretty much the same as I do to the atomics. (All of my chubbies have been bought second hand off here and all have been floaters)

Get a Ball sinker
Whack the crap out of it with a hammer till its flat to the thickness you want
and cut the shape you need thenSuper glue it to the bottom.. works for me

I do that to the maria and atomic cranks, works fine

I found with Gippy Black Bream a fully suspending lure does make a difference.
