Hey guys,

Just a quick post as I have been on and off considering repowering my boat. I always assumed I would simply trade in my current motor but obviously I wouldn't get as much for it as if I sold it privately. I want some advice as in asking price and if it is worth it. I've had the boat 18 months now, the motor had done basically no work prior (I was assured the boat had been run a bit over a dozen times since new), so all the running time has been done recently. I don't know how many hours, but it's not many. It's had a full service and a bunch of things replaced due to the long time being unused before I bought it. It is forward controlled, but, the only issue is the lack of any electronic tilt mechanism. One reason im looking at repowering is that adding the 75L livewell has dulled performance and the hull is rated to 40hp anyway and the other reason is that lack of trim control. It is still gas assisted so you can tilt it manually to an infinite degree, but obviously still has disadvantages and is at least a couple grand to buy the parts to convert it to electric trim.

So. In saying all that, it starts every time, is quiet and performs well (once I get the prop sorted, long story), but with the lack of trim control, would it be worth placing for sale or would I not get any more than a trade in? Sorry for the long post, I've not sold or bought a second hand motor before and the online classifieds is very hard to pinpoint a pricing scale due to the vast amount of motor variations.

Thanks for any help!

Ben
