BREAM Training - what do you do
Morning all,
Just thought I'd get things going today. What do you do to make yourself a better fisho. Do you just get out and cast as much as you can, try different lures and so on. One thing I have been doing since the start of the BREAM comps is to spend 1/2 an hour or so a day casting around the pool with different lures on each of my rods. I change the lures each time as they can swim differently depending on the rod. I use the edge of the pool as the target, hit it and I've gone too far. I have found it is a great way to see how lures react to the different types or retreival methods. Gives me a better idea which ones should be twitched and which shouldn't. It's also a good way to fine tune the changes you make to lure bibs and weight. Ta.

Bear,
Its those little pieces of info that you and others freely share that makes this site what it is I read, read and read and am ready to try anything new and innovative. And I always stick with something at least so that I can say that I have exhausted that avenue I might never use it again but at least I tried it out extensively. Living on the lakes edge I have it a bit easier than some and I cast across the sand flats and past my mooring poles and if little bream and niggers follow the lure I am usually happy with the way the lure is swimming and try to remember retrieval methods that work with that lure.

Some of us don't have it that easy Jim.......
A few of my mates are now Bream spinning converts, and we regularly get together at one of our houses for a friendly casting comp Beers get consumed, targets get harder and harder to hit but it's great fun - and really makes you try for the target, especially when you have a 'friendly' wager on the outcome Personally, I practice casting in the backyard similar to Bear - with a tiny little casting plug. I try to do it every afternoon (while I'm having my 'thank God work's finished for the day' beers) and do it in all weather conditions. It's no good practising only on the good days, otherwise you're not prepared if the wind blows up or the rain comes down. Every time I'm on the water I try something new (see the post about 'Is this possible?' around here somewhere) and I'll persevere until I'm happy the technique works (or doesn't) Cheers,
