GLOSS or MATTE

i have always been skeptical about matte bibs on lures compared to the conventional gloss bibs as to how transperant they are and overall effect on the profile of the lure. id just like to hear peoples thoughts on the matter of what they prefer and why and also the potential benefit of the matte bibs.

I was thinking the same thing a while ago mate and i thought in some situations like super clear water it might be visable and turn fish off but most times the profile of the lure with its colour would stand out far greater than the bib and would get lost in its surroundings compaired to the body

I think enough fish have been caught on bibbed lures that its not an issue...... I think the quality of the bibs and connection are more important.

Personally I still have more confidence in the clear bibs but I havnt got a lot of matt lures in my trays coz they turn me off a little

Some very big Bream were caught on McGrath Attacks and Bennett Lures that used both painted and ally bibs, and later clear bibs. These lures were fish magnets, in fact can still be. Many of the early timber lure makers used aluminium bibs. Cotton Cordell Big O's also had painted bibs, another early bream lure. I think the action vs appearance debate could be important here.

Have been using the new 60mm Double clutch's a fair bit of late. They have the Matte bibs. have caught fish in clear waters around Metung and haven't seen it as a problem...

All my go to lures have the matte bib, haven't had any issues catching fish with them.

I really dont think it makes a difference but when you are throwing Lures for hours on end, everything counts I suppose.
