Jackall TN50/60 alternatives?

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a bunch of TN50/60 lures for bass fishing but cringe at the thought of throwing $25-30 lures into snags all day long - if it were a lure for flats then fair enough. Does anyone know any good alternatives to the TN's that aren't as pricey? Or does anyone know anywhere to get TN's for a good price? US maybe?

Hi there mate, Kokoda G-Vibes are a great alternative for you , they are pretty much a exact copy of a TN60 .... obviously the quality is no where near as good as the TN60 but i can guarantee you they work and you should be able to pick them up for $5 - $8

Also a good one i use all the time is the SPRO Aruku Shad JR
these things are awesome, can pick them up for about $6.50 if you get them from overseas , they have a very loud rattle and i have caught so many bass on these things, i find them quite easy to flick off snags too and you DONT have to change the hooks on these , they are perfect straight out of the box, im pretty sure they are fitted with Gamakatsu trebles....

these are 2 very good lures to start with , dont be scared to throw these bad boys in to some snags , they will definitely get you the fish you are after

Hope this helps

Jase ....

Whats your biggest issue, losing them to snags or getting smoked??

Both are pretty easily dealt with.

First up, you will be surprised how snag resistent they are, I have no qualms throwing them accross the top of a bunch of logs underwater and rolling them back across the top. The way they ride with their nose down hides the hooks from the sticks as they use the top of their head to bump over them.

Second of all, getting smoked haha. Just fish a 20lb leader on 10-15lb braid and a ballsy rod. Ive only been smoked by 2 bass this season fishing like this and they have both taken the lure on the far side of the above snag piles, gotto be in it to win it haha. The heavier line also helps get the odd one that gets snagged back, and as a bonus it doesn't seem to bother the fish. I figure because you're rarely fishing for bass in crystal clear water, the leader size doesn't really have a chance to spook them.

Just go the jackalls, they work

this is good advice, i often fish a 17lb leader , lately been fishing 10lb but it still can get a lil hairy at times, the heavier leader definitely does make lure retrieving alot easier

Ive lost one jackall and that was to a stick under the water... Was just out of reach and I got frustrated and tries to bull dog it off.

Otherwise Lucky Craft make a good vibe, the shape isn't similar to Jackall's but it does have a really slow sink which would be good for bass and snapper.

But I would still find myself tying on a Tn any day.

It's not so much about getting smoked but getting them lost in snags where i can't get them out. I had a few close calls with the two i was throwing around on the weekend but managed to take both back home after the session was done.
Maybe i'll just get a few and suck it up if i lose some. I guess its worth it since they work so well
I'll check out some of the alternatives you guys have listed also. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you get your hands on a lure pole like red rocket suggested, you wont lose any unless you're fishing them real deep

Good price but it looks like they only have chameleon tiger in stock and no other colours.

For fishing deep just get a lure retriever on a cord and chains on the end.
I have never fished for bass but have done a lot of Cod fishing on the murray in the fast water and snagging up is a way of life. Without a pole and lure retriever I would be very poor or have no lures at all
