O.S.P. I-Waver

Hey guys, I just ordered an osp I-waver and am interested to know if anyone has started using them on bream yet?

How much success are you having with them?

What sorts of retrieved are you finding works best?

I'm planning on working them in a similar way to a bent minnow. Any ino would be appreciated.

Thanks
Gagga

Many ways to work them mate. in deeper water and around structure i tend to let them slowly sink with a few very light twitches. in shallow water a very slow roll with some twitches and long pauses.... They are absolute dynamite once you work them out..
Enjoy
Cheers

How do they match up with the Bent Minnows though?

Are they similar in action?

Not similar to the bent minnow at all, its a very finesse action.

I'm still getting to terms with the technique but I've been told to keep it simple with long pauses and a varied retrieve with short and long twitches.

The I -Waver is basically a stick bait and depending on weather you fish it in salt or fresh - it will slowly float, suspend or sink. The lure is best fished as you would a walk the dog surface lure. Mix up the speed of the Twitches to the mood of the fish - so basically throw it past the structure or across the flats. Give the lure a few quick flicks while taken up the slack with the reel. This will get the lure sub surface. Then it can be fish with a cadence of tow or three twitches with a pause. Most bites will come on the pause , but it pays to mix it up a bit and try something like a constant twitching retrieve with the rod tip down or a jerk jerk jerk pause retrieve. You will find that places where the fish are a bit lethargic and wont commit to a surface lure - the I-Waver will be extremely effective. They are great on bream over flats, around pontoons , rocks , snags etc as the versatility of the lure will depend on what the angler wants to do with it.

Cheers

Another red hot tip for super shut down fish is too put some scent on the tail and fish them really slow, swim them some where u can watch there action, ie swimming pool, and vary ur retrieve, but keep it really soft and so the back section is just moving which makes the polar fibre tail pulse. Once u have ur speed and retrieve worked out fish it around and likely fish holding areas and watch ur line super closely, any twitch is a bite. In relation to a bent minnow it's totally different if a bent minnow isn't working and the top water bite has ahut down the sub surface I-waver is the go.
Hope that helps

replace trebles

I have been fishing these lately and found the bass seem to get quite angry when taking them. Usually get the lure down pause for a while and then very slow roll for a little bit and then faster then pause again and repeat. found that on the very slow roll after the pause is when they are smashing it.

Only problem now i have is that the trebles are looking a little worse for wear and bent. just wondering what people are replacing them with. Addicted i see the trebles on that bream are different to stock. What would they be?
cheers

Most of the anglers are fovouring the Decoy wide gap range of hooks for the OSP range because they are are good strong hook for their thickness and are a light weight. They dont change the action of the lure at all so would be a good choice. They are the hook that I use for my lures as and when I need to replace the hooks. I still have my original I-Waver and it has now gone through 3 sets of Decoy Trebles and its still catching them. Have had some scary moments around bridges and even had one bass swim through the Pylons. I played the light and patient game and with constant pressure he luckily swam back through the way he came.
