jerkbait techniques

hey guys
lately i have had success on almost every type of lure apart from jerkbaits. i've can't fish on crankbaits (chubbies and cx35), surface, shads (sx40 and breamshads) and blades. but everytime i try jerkbaits, long skinny lures, i dont even get a nibble in very fishy water. so i'm starting to think i'm doing it wrong. so does anyone have any tips on the type of structure these should be fished in and what retrieve style you use.
cheers frenchy

i fish them the same as any other bibbed minnon, maybe a touch slower because the back end of the lure can really get a good rock on going nice and slow.

short sharp twitches and long pauses. I fish flats and rocky edges with them mainly.

When throwing them into structure, I really give them a couple of big twitches and a couple of solid winds to get them down to depth. From there I give short sharp twitches with long pauses. Occassionally I will pick up fish slow rolling them against rocky structure.

When fishing the flats I slow it down even more. But the twitches are usually a bit more subtle.

I cast them out over weed or rock in 50cm-2m of water and give it a few hard twitches a short pause a few small twitches pause one big twitch then pause and repeat. All short pauses and its a pretty quick. It's a food bite really.

Jerk the absolute crap out of them...that's the way they are designed to be fished.

Even with your biggest jerk they won't actually travel that far forward...sideways maybe.

I like your style. A softer rod and the lure would be lucky to move a foot twitching it as hard as you can
