New luvias? Any reports yet

Hey all,

Looking at picking up a few new reels to go on some rods coming in from a sponsorship deal. I'm looking to get 3 reels, probably 2 x 2004's n either a 2506 or 3012 for jewies n light offshore work so just wondering if anyone has used or had anything to do with the new mag sealed luvias's? Any info or possible other options would be great

Cheers Fishbutler

I have two new luvias, have had a 2506 for 6 months and landed some mulloway, bream, perch and yellowbelly. Have just bought a 2004 but have not got it wet yet.

The only problem I have had which seems to be with all diawa spin reels is that the knobs are loose and have a lot of play, it's unfortunate that they spend so much time putting all this new technology into new reels and then send them out of the factory with 2-3mm play in the handle

Apart from that the 2506 has been great!

When you say the knobs are loose, are you suggesting that they can be tightened but yours arrived loose? Or do you mean they are sloppy loose, poor fit/finish?
I've not a lot of experience with Daiwa spin reels, but I have a couple of old Steez's and I wouldn't say "all Daiwa reels, loose knobs, lots of play'.
And the 2-3mm play in the handle, is that in addition to the loose knob?

I'm quite keen to get a couple of these but would hesitate if this was a common theme.

I have 2 x 2506 and love em!

It's not the handle that has play, it's the knob. You just need to add in a couple of washers to eliminate the play or replace with an RCS knob.

They feel as nice but the difference will be how they wear. I would expect the luvi to get a small amount of play. The exist should last for years without play. I have one that is 5 years old and it's still very nice.
I will be getting a few luvi's when I see them in the shop

Very nice reel booth looks and feel. Will be very popular

They arrived loose/sloppy fitting with sideways play, then I fitted RCS knob onto them and their still loose (sideways play), can add washers but when the screw is tightened it stops the knob from free spinning and if the screw isn't tight enough it vibrates loose and the knob falls off!

I should not have said all daiwa reels but these of mine all have the same prob, steez 2500, luvi 2506,luvi2004h, luvi da 2500h.

Any suggestions on how to fix the problem welcome

Dude if u look at the shims closely there different thicknessess.
I've owned countless Diana's from cheap to $$ and not one of them have ever had more than a mill of play in they handle knob.
