Black swan 86mm bent minnows

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has tried these cheaper version of the bent minnows and with any success? I thought they looked alright, and at 15 bucks each decided to snap up a couple and see how they go next to my trusty O.S.P's. Colours dont seem to be as good a finish but if the action is good i will send away to get pimped. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Cheers darren

iv used them chasing tarpon and blue salmon on surface and found them to be just as good mate. i got sick of losing osp's iv caught basically the same things on them i did on my osps... barra small trevelly salmon tarpon fingermark etc.. if this helps hooks are quit weak but like the osp if upgrade them to much to a heavier gauge its affects the action quiet a bit so lighter drags are essential i found for both models

Thanks guys for your helpful information.. Does anyone happen to know what are good hook replacements for these style lures at all? i know the black swan bent minnows tend to dive down to 30 odd cm under the surface, which is considerably deeper than the O.S.P models, and if heavier hooks were to be put on the black swans,it would possibly render them strictly a sub surface lure with very little surface breaching? cheers once again everyone

In my opinion they dont compare to the OSP for breamming. The OSP feels more finesse and seems to dance in the water a little more gracefully.
The OSP colour scheme is a lot better too. Super wakasagi has been nailing everything for me lately (even a blackfish/luderick)
Note- Im not affiliated with OSP or any lure company.

When it comes to jacks, bass, trevs and barra I'd say either lure is fine, all personal preference.

I just bought a few OSP's and will be testing them out tomorrow but i'm keen to check out this Black Swan version. If they're cheap and just as good, i might look at getting some.
Which places stock the Black Swans? Do the site sponsors have them? I did a quick search but couldnt find too much about them.

I'd be interested to find what hooks guys are replacing either the swans or osp's with. From a previous thread I saw someone was replacing them with owner st-36's in the 14 or 12 for the 76 or 86?

Apparently the hooks are Daichii on the osp's, but I can't find a supplier. hmmm might chase up fishtec etc. Anyone who might have an inkling please let me know. Thanks.

The stocko hooks on black swans are real good, better strength by far than osp, for bream decoy is prob ya best upgrader.

try and get hold of the clear finish black swans, best value lure by far

we flick fishing has the full range

Have the black one with yellow tail worked well last weekend after sun just came up close to weed for bass. For the price will get a few more. Never tried the osp ones

Im sure these would fish ok but its the same thing as many lures , you get what you pay for..you pay the extra $$$ for quality , As Darren has already pointed out , the finish on the black swan isnt as good as the OSP.. OSP have a much better colour range and are built to last.

I havent used these yet personally, im sure its alot live holden vs ford as i hear alot of mixed reviews, i have a feeling tho that many more would be leaning towards OSP over a black swan...but again im sure this lure will still catch fish and will outfish an osp on some occasions ... same as the Tiemco soft shell cicada vs the Kokoda bat, everyone knows the Tiemco is a much better lure but i have out fished a mate using tiemco with my kokoda 5-1 .... but other days the tiemco has been the sure winner, it all comes down to what appeals to the fish on the day i think.... it cant hurt to try them

Anyone know where you can buy them? I've only seen them in the 86 and 110 mm versions, too big for bream IMO. Do they do any smaller sizes, like the 76 osp bent minnow.

If the black swan doesn't have the colour range, buy 1 for $15, send it to geneo customs and pick any colour you want for $6, $21 compared to $36 save $15. Problem solvered
