YGK Grand PE WX4 braid?

Need to respool i was thinking of this grand PE WX4? has anyone used it? Usually get the Sunline Rockfish PE which is great but had a few problems with it and for that price id expect more. Any other suggestions would be good to
cheers

That wx4 is complete rubbish, do not waste your money!! I tried it and it would constantly break for no reason at all, I lost a heap of lures using that line, on the cast, giving lures strong jerks and when I'd get a hit it would break without reason... Sunline super PE all the way mate!

I used it once, and since then I now have it on all my reel! Pretty pricey but good DohDohDohDoh! as long as you go heavier than the 4lb Wx4, that DohDohDohDoh used to have terrible knot strength and had a tendency to snap well before my 2lb leader would. But I use the 6lb stuff now on all my 2000 size reels and never had a problem since.
A+

I've been using this line for about a month now. I love this line! Super thin and cast so easy! Only problems Is that it's really thin which makes it difficult to see and to tie knots with in low light (especially tying on a new leader at dawn or dusk) and a few times it's snapped within a second of a fish being hooked.
But great line and would highly recommend it.

I ended up trying this line out. I went with 8lbs, still extremely thin and great knot strength. I don't see any need to go lighter. Spooled it up back at the end of 2012 and have had it on ever since. Absolutely the best braid I have ever used, casts great, great knot strength, never any cast knots and simply all round great. HOWEVER!! Just this week I lost a very solid jew that had taken about half my spool out and somehow this braid broke near the rod tip. Thought it may have been a freak occurence but after reading a few of these comments maybe it does have a few issues? Thought I would be respooling with this line but I sure don't want that to happen again. Damn!

And now thinking back I can remember a couple of occasions of random breaks in the braid whilst snagged rather than the 4lbs leader or leader knot breaking first.

Ill be another that votes this stuff as absolute rubbish! I got some 2PE to go on a Ryoga, it only lasted barely a month before it started to get all sorts of random breaks and cast offs. I would never touch YGK again, went straight back to Toray and regret ever bothering to look at other stuff, its just as cheap and far better.

Thumbs down

Line is rubbish, have it running on a 1000 sustain and a 2000 freams (6lb on both), both randomly snap and wind knots aplenty. Pinged off way too many hard bodies due to random line failiures and i should mention that i take proper care to taking spools off the reel, warm water rinse and wiping down the reel with a cloth so lack of care isn't in the picture. I just received some 8lb unitika aorika that i'm going to test out, absolutely will never touch WX4 again.

I do run WX8 Jigman Grand PE in 20lb on my sol4000, stuff is great and tough as for offshore, thin enough for on shore. Much better in higher breaking strains.

Cant comment on the WX4 however had three spools of the WX8 Jigman in heavier applications - 30-55lb and found I was having unexplainable bust offs when fighting fish or snagged, tying knots etc.

Did some tests with the local shop scales and staff and all agreed it wasn't correct and seemed well under the rating . The store Had the line sent off for testing before accepting the warranty and found it was breaking around 15% under the rating. ("Marginally" under was the term they used)

Lost a few good fish to the unexplainable breaks and now would not go near it or recommend it. All my reels are spooled now with varivas or saltiga casting and there have been no problems what so ever.

I've been using wx4 pe .4 on my Daiwa aegis 2004 for about 6 months and have not had a problem however I find it way too thin and fiddly, I'll be going back to Sunline super pe in the future.
