LED Lights

I recently bought some LED white lights for night time fishing off ebay. I wasnt sure how they'd go but have a look below.... worth the $17 i spent total!... came with 3M taped backing so it should last but if not i'll get some d/sided tape from work or use some silicone on the edges.

Looks sweet mate, I like how the light isn't shining in your eyes or on the water

just search and you'll find them. There was two different types I got the 3528 but there is a more expensive 5050, i dont know the difference between them.

yeah exactly right, the light shines only in the boat and not scaring fish off.

The difference is in the chip setup for the leds. The 5050 have 3 LED chips for each housing whereas the 3528s have one. So the 5050 is 3 times brighter. The numbers are for the different chip sizes (3528 = 3.5mm x 2.8mm and 5050 = 5.0mm x 5.0mm) The three chips allow you to have changing colours etc whereas the 3528s are single colour. The 5050s are good in areas of high ambient light whereas the 3528 is good for LCD tv backlighting etc. The main thing to look for is LEDs/metre in ya strip lighting, the 3528s put out more than enough light for nightime fishing.

The 3528s work sweet. Ive got 2 x 6m strips of the 3528s on a dimmer for night fishing. For $17 you cant beat them, a dolphin torch costs more than that Those LED spotlights you can pick up cheap on eBay go alright too. Heaps better than the 12V fluros tubes under the gunwales and 12V worklamp I use to have before going LED.

lol in a few weeks those LED spot lights off ebay will be a new post by me!... i'm buying some this week. What watt'age do you recommend?
i was thinking of getting 2x 36w and mounting one on the console and one on the rail so i can point it down into the water if i go squid fishing.

They look good. Gonna be running them at 12V? Ive got the old 91 LED spotlights and at 24V they are good, not so good at 12V. Ive been looking at upgrading them for better ones. Those 36W would pump out some light. Had an incident where i ran over a crab net tied to a 600ml clear coke bottle at night and got well and truly tangled so I like to have a nice spotlight to see infront of me. I was looking at those 8x3W lights but I might have to get some of those 36W ones but ill wait a week so we arent bidding against eachother

Yeah im gunna run it on 12volt. I do a bit of night fishing and i usually use a hand held spot light but I want to use it with a couple flood lights and have the option to squid fish too.

no worries, I havent had a chance to get out at night yet and try mine out properly.

A mate said he bought some a while ago but they had started to peel off and he was gunna use a little silocine to fix them.
