That is a cool reel, really a Stradic fj in a ci4 or equivalent graphite body.

Great to see!! Well done Shimano if it's anything like the fj Stradic, it'll be great value
The symetre FL looks strange though?.......

how can the new Symetre have X-Ship with the same amount of bearings as previous model and only $99 ??

I bet the bearing that sits inside the sideplate is gone!
The Stradic fj got xship without more bearings last year too?

if it does get x-ship it just starts to defeat the purpose of even mid range marketing... on paper it would seem the $99 reel is just as good as the Stradic FJ and Sustain FG...

I wouldn't agree with that at all.

If shimano can implement x-ship into a majority of their reels it will give Daiwa a serious run for their money, if you look at the top quality components that Daiwa have built into their budget range I can't see why shimano wouldn't do the same thing.

I don't think that because shimano have one thing as standard on their reels it will make the rest of the range irrelevant, ball bearing counts, component quality and build quality all play huge role.

The only reason that I likened it to a sienna is due to the colour scheme and body shape, I'm sure it will be much better though

Stamped bail arm... Hmm interesting.

Other than that - I guess if they use a global platform body for a few different reels like Daiwa they keep costs down for themselves and us the public.

Bearings can be added or subtracted as you wish - for all intensive purposes add as many as your pocket can afford.

I like this reel for sure and will look at it when it comes to Aus in due time.
