Ratios on Stradic and rarenium ci4s

Hi guys

Read a lot On here and love the info I have been able to gleen.

I have 2 x 2500 ci4s on 2-5kg g3 dropshots and love them as they have caught me every thing from trevallu to big Murray and eastern cods, bass etc and now I have started lureing for bream. Now I have started to realise after all the info on here that slow rolls just about win the bream over whilst Hb luring.

I'm wanting to get my wife a reel for her t curve rev 2-5kg rod and was thinking of maybe the rarenium. (I might be able to use it as well

What I was wondering was the only difference between them is the ratio.

Is a slower ratio easier to slow roll for luring or not? Does it have that much of an impact?

Any info or suggestions let me know.

Ps if anyone wants to offload a rarenium or Stradic then pm me I might be keen

Cheers Ryan

Even tho the two reels look the same apart from colour they are world apart in quality IMHO.
The CI4 is a awesome little reel but the Rarenium is heaps heaps smoother and has the lower gear ratio.
The CI4 is made in Malaysia and the Rarenium in Japan for the Japan market.
Have a play in a tackle shop with one and you'll know what I mean.

Hi gozz
Thanks for the reply - still doesn't answer the question though

Does a lower ratio make the slow roll really slow in comparison to the Stradics faster ratio?

I have seen Malaysia printed on the Reel plate for the rareniums so unless you have a photo of a au delivered/bought rarenium I'm fairly skeptical about them being made in Japan

Having said that I'm quite open to being shown otherwise

You got me there mate.
I looked at a 2500 rarenium at a complete angler store and it said Japan.
The reason I remember is cause the salesman made a point out of it when he showed me the reel.
Who knows they might make them
In both countries.

Regarding the ratio you'll definatelly notice the speed difference.
I mostly use daiwas for lure fishing and for a 4.8 to 1 ratio it's much slower compared to my 6 to 1 CI4.

I don't think it has that much of an impact, if you have a high gear ratio just wind slower, if you have a slower ratio, wind faster..

I personally have a stradic ci4 and a rarenium ci4 and I have to say that the rarenium is a class above, much smoother, minimal play in the handle (compared to my high end Daiwa gear), and much better drag.

Also they are both made in Malaysia.

All in all, I don't think that you can go wrong either way.

Cheers Kyle
