Best 4-4.5m bream boat

G'day guys,

Well I've made a decision to NOT go for a skeeter for a couple of reasons, main one being funds but I would rather put the extra money into accessories, a Hobie Revolution for solo trips when I can't be buggered with the boat and the main reason i'm getting rid of my Subaru Forester, it's got enough of my bloody money already and jumping into a practical car that doesn't take 10 minutes to get over a speed hump, looking for a GU Turbo Patrol to do some 4x4ing too.

My budget after all those goodies is therefore knocked back to around.. 15k, this includes new boats... the Stessco's look awesome for the price new!

Pretty keen on something with a half decent well and a large casting deck up front, but I think i've sold myself on a Stessco RV410 or 430.

Hey Ado

Check this boat out!

Other than that, CrossXCountry boats look pretty awesome. There's a thread on here somewhere about them, might have to do a search mate

Cheers
Todd

Ado,
if your after a glass boat there's a 2010 haines hunter seawasp on flea bay going dirt cheap, it's in Sydney as well. I just sold an original version and they are great boats, handle chop and swell like nothing else in it's size and can be decked out to chase anything from bream to snapper and kings. Probably not the best tournament boat but will be hard pressed to find a better allrounder in that size(besides a 445f)

CrossXCountry 4.1 with a 40hp would be around that mark I'd say.

They ride much better than alloy boats and because they are light they own the alloy boats for speed and holeshot.

Do a search for them I've got a thread that runs through the build of my one. I'll be adding photos this afternoon

I wouldn't touch a GU Patrol, they have a nickname "grenades" cause you never know when they are gunna go 'BANG'... They have a habit of putting pistons through the side of their blocks...

http://forum.australia4wd.com/index....gine-problems/

"The ZD30 engine in the Patrol was regarded as a grenade for model years 2000 and 2001. The problems reduced after that to the extent that I was happy enough to buy a 2004 Patrol. As long as you know how the problems can occur and know what to look for then they seem to be reliable now."

So be careful!!! especially the cheap ones!!!

Yea, pretty sure all of the dramas are with the 3.0. but in that respect my mate has the 4.2 and in the last 16 months he has spent over 13K getting it fixed....

Hey Ado

For the money you got too spend i'm with ya with a stessco. I just purchased a Bare SF450 catcher before chrissie and proceeded to fit it out my self. Just spent a little over the fifteen mark but are just wanting to upgrade the sounders now and will be very happy. Am very happy with the ride and set up that works for me both in the estuary and off shore.
A couple of pics through my build.

Here's a couple pictures, the rod lockers fit a comfortable 6 rods a side and will take up to 9ft to allow for the fly gear. On this boat i opted for the vertical locker option as opposed to the horizontal look like my other boat as to allow for more close gunnel depth for when i'm offshore. Works well with the by-fold lockable doors and the pedestal seats have slides that move sideways to allow for easier install of rods.
