sustain 1000fg help

the wife just bought me the sustain 1000fg for my birthday. was thinking of spooling it up with sunline fc sniper bms 4lb. now do i need to put a small amount of backing on the spool first then put the whole 150m of sunline on or do i fill the spool half up with braid then top it with 50m of sunline. i would go ask my local tackle shop but feel a little rude as the wife went to DohDohDoh for the reel the only tackle shop she knows. the sunline spools are 150m with dia 0.165mm have looked everywhere but cant find how much of the spool this will fill.

If u have 2 spools its quite simple. Just fill the reel backwards, braid first and then backing until it is filled up and then transfer the line onto the other spool and it will be perfect.
If u dont have 2 spools u can still do it u just need a couple of other reels to put the line onto after u have done the initial backwards spooling, a bit fiddly but it makes sure u use the perfect amount of line and dont waste any braid.

had some on my symetre 1000fj and kept getting wind knots galore, went through 100m in a week, put it on a 2004 and havnt had a single wind knot and no problems at all, i think a 1000 spool is to small for fc, id recommend 3lb crystal fireline i had no probs with braid on the 1000.

That sucks driftcorp... I'm of the opposite opinion though, I have 3lb basic fc on both a 1000 symetre and a 1000 twinpower and haven't had a single wind knot on either. Braid I still get a few, but no issues with fc and 1000 sized reels for me

I use sunline FC basic in 2 and 4lb with 6lb mono as backing on my Stradic Ci4s
It comes with a tag every 75m so thats how much I put on. I've been fishing the flats with this setup for years and have never got close to the backing.

Don't stress mate, I've got a full spool of sunline basic fc on my biomaster 1000,(same reel basically) no issues! I only went away from braid on this reel as it is on a daiwa black label technical with tiny guides at the rod tip and found the slimmest of knots still catching,
Now with fc 3 lb I get heaps of distance with tiny 2g hardbodies!
