last nights effort
Last night headed over to my fav jack spot and it didnt let me down....pretty quiet for the first few hours as high was at 9.30 and i know i had to wait till the 2nd half of the run out before the action started.
Had a few bream being boated (the biggest going 37cm) by 11.30 and of cause it would'nt be the same if there wasnt a slimmy eel or two to fill in some time. I dont what it is but the last two jacks out of there havent hit like a train, more of a pick pick then slowly start swimming off. The bait i got him on was a live mullet, well he was when i through him out and must of been soaking for about an hour, so i dont know if he was still alive or not. Im thinking that with strip baits or dead whole, theres no need for them to attack like they can....just cruze up, chomp chomp, then keep going, where with livies they have to use there speed and brute force to catch their prey. Anyway theres jack and chips on the menu tonight... 001.jpg

Beast! Im keen to land a decent Jack this year. Will 15lb braid do it? Locals say 80lb braid and 100lb mono! Seems a bit over the top.

Well i was using 50lb braid and 60lb mono leader.
Normally you wouldnt have to go that big but where i was theres not alot of room to move and as it was he was already wraped arond one pilon, whick i was lucky to get him back around.
