Who's given their Daiwa ballistic a good workout.
They have been out for a little while now and was wondering how they are fairing up after some good sessions.
Thanks. |

I got mine when they first came out and it's the smoothest reel on my deck and there are certates and a exist to compare to.
I think it feels smooth because of the high gearing. Cant put a fault on it for the price yet. I need a 2000 I have the 2500 but want a smaller one now. Cheers Chris |

Excellent.
I've got mine coming and I cant wait. I'm getting a 2500 and will be interesting to see how it compares to my 2500 certate, it's going to be a little lighter that's for sure. |

I've got a 2500 silver luvias and it's had a very hard life but still looks and feels like new.
I'm getting a fungo which the same as our luvias cause I love them. A guy at a tackle store told me that shimanos get better the more they are used and daiwas get worse. He reckons the paladin gears get smoother he reckons. |

I've only had my 2500 Ballistic a short time and it hasn't had a good workout yet. It's certainly smooth enough for a reel of its price, but it just doesn't compare to my Exist or even my Certate for smoothness and quiet operation. I believe you get what you pay for, most of the time.
I'm still convinced that it's going to be a good value for money reel, even though the gears make a slight noise and there is some slack in the handle. Time will tell. |

I had a play with a 2500 ballistic today and I thought it was very smooth, I also had a good look at the handle and found no slack or slop.
The reel was light and smooth and hopefully with stay that way. I ended up buying a 2 to 4kg 7foot 2pc pfluger trion rod. Amazing action for a rod of that price. In fact it felt very much like my 2 to 4kg pfluger patriarch rod which was like $250 compared to $125 for the trion. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same blank for the both rods. |

Im tossing up between a new
2000 balistic and a2000 luvis of last years model, what path would you guys go down? Was even thinking about fitting it with a rcs 2004 spool I have lying around.

Ballistic
Can anyone tell me if these, or the Freams for that matter, come with a spare spool?
Cheers, Nick. |

I think you just get some bad reels in a batch, My ballistic is what I would call near perfect but others say their's make noises and have play. Mine has no play at all. I would never buy another blue Luvias ever again. Reels do get a bit sloppy as they get older. Normally the cheaper the more you will notice this. My exist is in very good codition for a reel thats a coupple of years old and never been serviced. I know what they mean by the SOLs and getting a bit sloppy I have had a few of them. It doesnt really matter if they are not perfect but it does matter when they start making alot of noise and grinding. Cheers Chris |

I find that very hard to believe. I have a DA and a Silver Luvias and they are both awesome. They are almost as good as my Steez reels! Best reels I ever bought. I got them on sale for $280 and now I wish I bought more. I haven't serviced them in 2 years (besides a bit of oil occasionally) and they are still like new.
