Few reels with play in the handle

A few of my Daiwas have a fair bit of play in the handles and are quite loose even when tight as they can go, it doesn't affect the reeling much but doesn't feel great even though the reels are very smooth. How can I fix this?

Which models are they.

I reckon it depends on what the problem is, if it's play in the gears I don't think you can do much apart from installing new gears but if it's play in the bearing's or the bearing housing then new bearings or shimming the bearing housing will help.

Where they loose from day one or did the problem develop over time.

Gozz, they have got play or slack in the handle, they are a crest and an exceller, gonna try fix it because they are great reels and I got them at a good price. Its play just in the handle, even if they are fully tightend at the cap on the other side of the reel you can still pull the handle and they are not tight.

It's hard to tell with out handling the reels but it could be the bearings or a worn shaft.
Worth fixing if you really like the reels.

They'll probably become bait reels for trout soon. So not to worried, but might take into the tackle shop and see what they can do.
