G Loomis 8500L ESP Gl2

Hi all,
Anyone got one of these rods? I got some money over Xmas and am looking at getting a new light bream rod. Ive been doing some googling but can't find much info besides it won 2011 AFTA best rod. Anyone know if the guides are SiC or alconite?

These are quite intereesting rods as they do not feature on the GLoomis catalogue. They appear to be the entry level rod. Interesting to hear what stella_fella thinks and reports as he has bought one.

When you read this description on the MO site "Australian designed tapers, action and configurations. Features : Fuji reel seats, guides, tough GL2 blanks and hand built in the USA" I have to wonder. What is an Aussie taper, what is a Fuji guide?

Just my comments!.

GL2 are the loomis entry level rod.

At MO the loomis blanks are nearly the same price as this rod!

As an avid loomis fan and user of glx and NRX rods, these are only entry level. Also in my opinion for the price you could save some bucks and get a new Shimano soft plastic model, the blanks are similar in weight, I'd say though the loomis would last longer.
Great rods don't get me wrong, I was gonna get one but I thought they'd be lighter.
Cheers

Hmmm the components aren't that great.
I've looked at the DSR820S and that seems to be better for about $20 more. I might go this one instead.
I picked up a ESP GL2 today and it seemed a bit heavier than i expected it to be.

Does anyone know what blanks these rods come in? I always thought they were GL2 and GLX. The guys at Mo's mentioned the DSR are a blend inbetween a GL3 and IMX so now im confused :S
