Have the money - Need the Advice

The time has come for my fiancee and I to fish from our own boat.

We live and fish on the Gold Coast and work 'online'.

We would be fishing
The broadwater - Gold Coast and Outside to narrowneck etc
Noosa River - River and Offshore
Coffs Coast and Off Shore

We are keen bream, Flatty and Whiting anglers and lived on Lizard and Bedarra Islands years ago as Resort Staff, so we do like the reef fishing and pelagic trolling.

I am a soft plastic diehard and have a strong saltwater flyfishing background. And would start going in comps like ABT etc if we felt like we were good enough etc.

SO what boat to get? There seems to be a huge array of boats out there we sometimes borrow a Aussie Whaler and get the Boab Boats from time to time, but like the idea of fishing from our own vessel.

We need a casting deck up front, live bait / live holding tank, enough storgae for a few rods and gear etc

I ahve liked the look of bass boats and like the 'offshore-ness' of quintrex and pro tracker boats.

Budget is around $20-$30k

Thanks in Advance

Don

be hard to go past a frenzy as the best allrounder for the price, very stable boat and cable offshore in the right conditions.

Lots of info on the above thread mate, but a word of warning after reading it you will want to buy one now!

check out the plate TABS boats mate. id be getting something in about the five metre mark for the styles of fishing you describe. personally, id also go for the centre console as you will have a heap more room down the back when you do your offshore stuff

Mate if your top line is $30k you won't get into a 470 Top Ender or a Frenzy (one with all the gear). Better to look at an all rounder like a 450 Top Ender with a 60Hp EFI.

You can probly set one up with a bow motor, bimini & sounder for just on $30k. Great boat too!

thanks for the suggestions, heading out today to follow on your suggestions to local boat shops and some boat sale.com.au leads.

Seems the frenzy is the go.

How do the bass boats like skeeters etc perform in the open water?

Being on the gold coast, look up Galeforce boats. Solid boat that works well in the choppy stuff and offshore, but still get in shallow when needed. I have one being built at the moment.

Gday - I appreciate the question regarding Skeeter's. We are the Australasian distributor for Skeeter. I have read your post and see what you want to do with the boat - I am sure a Skeeter will suit your needs for all the work except for the offshore work. Skeeter have been designed to handle the rough water extraordinarily well, but as with all boats have their limits.
With respects to your budget I have traded in a Haines Hunter Prostrike that is in good condition that may suit your needs. If you think this may be a suitable option please give me a call on 0408 621 426

Good luck in the search for a boat

Kind regards,
Josh

I'm looking to upgrade to a Galeforce 5.5. They are at home off shore trolling for big game but also good on the flats chasing estury fish. Good storage with rod lockers in the sides and cast deck. You will be looking at a second hand one at that price. Good Luck

The Pro-strike will handle the chop/swell better than a Skeeter. The offer from 'skeeter' might be worth a look. You should get a Prostrike fully set up from 25 - 30K. Rock solid and really stable. Fast as!
