handle setup

the best way would be to have a look at some rods that feel comfortable or close to what you want and copy the style, this is an easy way to get it to your specs and don't forget to trim it out with some trick alloy bling bits to make it stand out

Hey mate, the most comfortable are the Aero seats on the lamiglass and the Duff X series, They fit your hand perfectly. Im not a big fan on the minima seats.

I think a cork grip with a Aero seat would be good. Having no front grip is good, the way you hold the rod leaves you fore finger on the blank, give a bit of extra sensitivity. By far the best in my books.

These are some of the rods I have built top and bottom are Fuji VSS mounted reverse with 2 different hoods. I prefer the newer fuji shaped grips but they were out when I did these two

Middle 2 are my preference Amtak Aero Comfort grips with cork. I shape the cork on a power drill using a knitting needle as a mandrel and sand paper. I like the result.

Haven't added a lot of bling to them. There fishing rods after all.

The Minima grips are pretty good I haven't built one yet, but did purchase one of the new shimano raider soft plastic rods with the minima grip and cork. My thumb sits right in the space on the blank. I quite like the way it sits. Not sure whether I prefer the minima grips over the amtak comfort grip.

I know what you mean by the thumb sits on the blank, they are good for a few things like vibing and deep plastics. I find they dont sit well i your hand when really putting hurt on the fish in heavy cover, I think they feel like the rod is trying to turn sideways. But thats my opinion. Might feel good to others.

Whoops.
IPS thats them.

I knew the were Fuji reel seats with a three letter name, but they're not the latest ones. I could only remember VSS and assumed I forgotten the new one since I haven't built using them. Now that I think about it I think the VSS might have been out when I built the second (maybe when I did the first too, but I didn't know much then, maybe I know less now) but I don't think I could find the matching cork grips so stuck with the IPS.

Must be old age.
