rod for hb's

Hi all,

Playing with the idea of getting a second rod to use for hard bodied lures and am after some recommendations. I would be using 4 pound fireline on either a 1000 or 1500 sized reel with a 6 or 8 pound leader and have about $ 150 to spend. Length wise I'd be looking at about 6' to 6'6".

Any advice would be appreciated.

cheers.

$150 I reckon try the 6'6" Daiwa Heartland X.
Or stick with your "Squidgy". It'll do the job....and spend your money on hotting up the canoe.

If you can wait out for a lil longer...breammaster will be doin a deal on custom Samuria blanks built up with Fuji Alconites and your choice of colours, etc... for only $170.
Either that or the Heartland IM6.

Hey big mumma (that sounds wrong)

What other rods do you already have? The reason i ask is that bream destroyer mentioned that you are currently using a squidgy rod. I may be wrong (Ive never used a squidgy rod myself) but from recent posts I think that other people may suggest that the squidgy rods are more suitable for hard bodies than softs.

In that case it may be better off getting another rod better suited for sp's. Sorry if I assumed too much, but i just wanted to raise that point, cos i know if it was me i wouldnt want to spend my money and then realise it could have been better spent. Anyway have a think and see what others here think.

Whether you decide to go for a HB rod or a SP rod, i would highly recommend checking out the custom fuji samurai rods that Breammaster are getting made. IF you are keen on a longer rod then apparently fuji are bringing out 7ft versions of both the 001 and 002 soon.

hope that helps
matt
